How has our possibility for civil disobedience progressed? or regressed? The past and future of civil disobedience are unfortunately vastly different. The imperial capitalist order that sanctions our civil society today makes me question how possible it is for Haitians to exorcise their agency and resistance when their civil liberties are being signed over to the disaster capitalists! Over the last few days the head lines and images of Haiti's population are being used to create deviant and desperate bodies. This becomes intensely problematic when journalists are forgetting to contextualize the shameful role our governments and corporations have and continue to play in deepening their poverty.
