why when someone sees a frame with a tampon colored red and a quote from Simone de Beauvoir do they want to destroy it?
our installation was up for less than 24 hours. We installed it yesterday around 2, and today around 5pm the "gross" frame was completely gone, while the frame with the quote and tampon colored red was smashed and destroyed. what does this say about our culture?adverts for erectile dysfunction are more common in public space than thought provoking feminist quotes, yet when women reclaim space through art there seems to be violent repercussions. why is this?

ReplyDeleteWow! I those had been up for a while. I suppose I was lucky enough to see it the day before, because I made sure to check the website out as soon as I got home. Don't worry! It still was effective. :]
