In this series of images, I aim to show at once the normalcy of the lesbian bedroom as well as make visible the difference of being a lesbian. With the title Lesbian Bedrooms as a framework for the viewers gaze, the subject of the photograph is immediately recognized as lesbian or queer. In every photo, the lesbian subject is in the foreground, both challenging and inviting the viewer into her othered and yet ordinary world of sex, sleep, and dreams. This series emphasizes that whatever passes through the walls of this very private space, passes between lesbians.
It is my intention to continue this project as a way to document those around me, as well as to artistically challenge the conceptions surrounding lesbian sexuality and intimacy.
