Where have all the riot grrrls gone?

The following is possibly pointless drivel.

SO, where have all the riot grrrls gone? My bathroom stall experiment revealed that a lot of people out there just don’t get feminism. But why? This is what the riot grrrl movement was about, reinterpreting feminism for us. But then again, I missed riot grrrl. At the tender age of 3 I wasn’t aware of what was going on in Olympia. It seems that though I have been inspired by the time, many of my peers missed out. They don’t seem to get that feminism is about equality, but not simply about equality of the sexes, and it isn’t supposed to be limited to a restrictive idealogy. Feminism is a way of thinking, and how prevalent it is in your life is your choice.

I think about it all the time, feminism that is. Maybe it’s all the gender studies courses, but I look and think about things differently now. The question is how can we get more people to think this way? I mean it would be sweet if we could give them a riot grrrl mix tape, and somehow all the amazing messages would just download in their brains, kind of like in the matrix. But I don’t think that’s going to work.

There is a need for feminism to get our there. The question is how.

In summary. Riot grrrl is awesome, not enough people get it, and so we’re going to have to do something. We should start a band. We’ll need a different name.

On another note, if a riot grrrl mixtape could save the world from misogyny and make everyone feminists, what would be on it?
